About US

Sustainability at En-Plast doesn’t live in a slogan.
It lives in how our pad systems are built.

Every sustainability claim sounds compelling on its own—recycled content, reduced impact, lower emissions. But when viewed holistically, many of these claims begin to break down. Materials are sourced inefficiently, logistics are added as an afterthought, and the economics often only work at a limited scale.

En-Plast is different because it wasn’t developed as a standalone product—it was engineered to complete a system.

Commercial tire retreading is one of the quiet workhorses of circularity in the U.S.

A single commercial tire can be retreaded multiple times, extending service life and conserving raw materials along the way.

What’s left behind in that process is retread buffings—clean, consistent rubber removed so the tire can run again.

That material isn’t waste. It’s potential.

Sparton Enterprises built the infrastructure to recover that material at national scale. Not with hand shovels or inefficient freight, but with purpose-built trailers, automated measurement, and disciplined logistics.

Fewer touches. Fewer miles. Less mess.

Efficiency doing the work sustainability claims usually promise.

En-Plast takes that recovered rubber and turns it into engineered field pads, including the ShockDrain series of shock and drainage pads for sports fields.

The majority of every ShockDrain pad is manufactured from retread buffings, combined with reclaimed material generated inside our own manufacturing system.

No brokers. No extra freight. No pretending scrap is a virtue after the fact.

That’s the point most sustainability stories skip.

P.A.D-02-1

This system thinking is what led to the Add a P.A.D. Sports Field Initiative.

Add a P.A.D. is En-Plast’s commitment to making engineered shock pads a standard part of sports field design—not an upgrade.

It exists to remove the forced tradeoff between safety, performance, and budget by delivering purpose-built pad solutions designed for long-term performance and durability.

ShockDrain is how that commitment shows up in the field.

impact at field scale

Systems where material recovery, manufacturing, and logistics reinforce each other instead of fighting each other.

A single En-Plast field pad weighs roughly 100,000 pounds. Nearly all of it is recovered or reclaimed material.

Thousands of commercial tire retreads are represented in one installation.

Long service life, backed by a strong, competitive warranty.

And when a pad eventually reaches end of life, it can be processed through existing tire recycling infrastructure almost anywhere in the country.

No special handling. No dead ends.

Longevity matters. Logistics matter. Scale matters.

This is why En-Plast works. Not because it tells a better story, but because the story is already happening upstream, every day, at industrial scale.

Retreading created the opportunity. Sparton made it efficient. En-Plast turned it into long-life sports infrastructure. Designed, not accidental. If sustainability is going to mean anything long term, it has to look more like this.

Quiet. Engineered. Economically real. Built to last.
